I was going to do a series called “How do you feel today?” and this one was going to be called “Glum.” But it took on a life of its own, and I ended up getting so involved in the detail that it became its own illustration. I like this one because of the details—especially the stitching in the yellow raincoat—and because it reminds me of growing up north of Seattle.
